jobs contract

People move from job to job all the time these days. In fact, the work seems to be jumping more popular than ever. This has become a huge problem for many companies because they are found increasingly difficult to retain key employees. For this reason, employment contracts become increasingly complex in an attempt by companies to maintain control of their employees.

But there is a golden lining. Because companies are so quick to cling to their employees, you can negotiate a better contract of employment in many cases. There are advantages and disadvantages for you and company when it comes to signing an employment contract and I will not go into these in any kind of detail in this article, just keep in mind that there are advantages and disadvantages from your point of view and also from the point of view of society. This is not a bad idea to try to look through the eyes of society, but it is a topic for another article …

So what should we expect to find in your employment contract? In other words, what should we expect to find in a normal employment contract?

The first thing you find is the "term". The term indicates the time the contract should begin and where the contract should be terminated. Many if not most contracts of employment tend to run from 3 to 5 years.

The next thing you find are your specific duties. Some people call this description of a job. It is a very important part of any employment contract because it is the foundation of all employers say you fire "for cause". Several times, this section be generic or general, but for you, you want it to be as accurate as possible.

The next thing you'll find a section on compensation. How much will you earn? This discussion usually the minimum wage as well defined as any bonus or stock options and things of that nature you can expect.

The next thing you find is a section on holiday time. How many times each year and for how long can be expected to have a holiday? Perhaps your accumulated vacation? Want to be paid in lieu of taking vacation? These are all things you can expect to find in this section of your contract of employment.

Benefits, including life and health, and all sorts of schemes pension you can expect your company to supply will be found in this section. You can also find information on relocation expenses, especially if you move into your new job in another region of the country or world.

Next you can expect to find a section on termination. We do not think about this but it is good to be spelled out before hand in your contract exactly what circumstances will lead you to your termination. It will probably also discuss how you yourself can terminate your employment contract, making it a very important section.

Expect another section on redundancy payments. Would you like to receive a golden parachute if you're fired? Under what circumstances these things happen?

You should also find a provision which deals with disability exactly what happens if you are unable to continue your employment due to disability, and what works and what does not constitute a breach of contract when it comes to disability.

Finally expect a clause which deals with perks. Would you like to receive an expense account? What about a limousine or joining a club? You must sign a non-compete or an arbitration clause? Does the company buys your old home to make you move? These are things that fall under the category benefits.

Well there you have it … These are the main things you can expect to find in any contract of employment. They are all negotiable, so keep that in mind before signing anything. Depending on the level of employment and amount of compensation, you may to speak to an employment attorney specializing in employment contracts.
