The holiday breaks can be filled with opportunities for our youth to grow in preparation for adulthood. For many of us, we would see our young people develop skills that can be constructed simply as a seasonal employee. Skills such as planning resources and skills, negotiation skills, management expenses, management time and establish the work / life balance are some we can expect teenagers to be able to learn by setting themselves an activity holiday – which, although course, could be extended to work part-time commitments expected of industry and study permit.
Before addressing some specific work that young teens can ask themselves, we look for learning opportunities they may encounter through this process.
Planning
Your Teen youth have the opportunity to self-assess their skills and capabilities and their strengths and weaknesses. They will also be able to spend time assessing the needs in the community and identify which one corresponds to their own skills and a request to provide sufficient income to try to do. They will also need to consider what tools or equipment and consumer items they may need and how they are going to get this job done. They should also be encouraged to consider the wear or maintenance costs and replacement of these items and add that to their budgeted conditions income.
Promotion
Once you are a teenager worked on the logistics of what they hear they need know who they are going to do and how they will make themselves known. It should also consider how they intend to adjust their schedule work in progress and, if they are to complete the task outside the home, how they will communicate their location to you as their parent. This aspect process is perhaps one of the most critical that parents are involved in so they know their child is safe in their company selected holidays.
Negotiation Skills
Once they begin to work requests, your teen will then need learn negotiation skills. They will need to negotiate hours early, to justify the time spent on task and pay involved. They will also need to plan their work to balance the needs of their client in May with the requirements that exist for them at home, at church or through other community organizations. Be sure to support them there and discuss options for their customers with them so they are empowered to develop excellent skills in customer service.
Self-Management
Once they are on the job, your teen will gain valuable experience in self-management. Learn to stay motivated and focused on work is an essential skill and will be rewarded as well as ensuring that work is completed at the level of detail expected by the client. Develop good habits, especially in sleep patterns and processes of preparing them for the day itself are rewards that can pay dividends for parents who take their children through this process – the patterns may only paste!
Money Management
After work is said and done, and they return home with their payment your teen will need to consider how this money is then shared between replacement of consumables, maintenance or replacement of tools and equipment and the opportunity to expand their range. They will also need to consider giving some of their earnings to their church or charity, pocketed the money for them. Depending on their age and the tax laws in your area, they may also need to set aside additional funds to meet their tax obligations.
When you sit down and reflect on him there are many skills that can be learned by the establishment of a leave-business. Your child will have a great chance to build confidence self and communication skills in providing the needs of others during the holiday break. That can make your teen can earn money while holidays? Consider the following options:
- washing and ironing clothes,
- House Cleaning
- child minding, baby-sitting or being an assistant to a parent of a young family
- Pet Sitting / dog walking
- washing windows or vehicles,
- mowing lawns and working in the yard of base (including shoveling snow and chopping wood)
- distributing promotional material, newsletters or newspapers
- using a boat hand to produce marketable goods,
- development a garden that will produce returns that can be sold and
- anything else that comes to mind as a skill or ability salable.
Another valuable lesson that can be gained through the process of working during holiday breaks is the value that the time has and that, although there are moments of relaxation and celebration, it is important not to waste this precious resource that we have no control over. Your teen may not see as well as you how fast we spend our lives, but they can learn to maximize holiday breaks to be productive and develop themselves to young adults.
