How long does it take to get temporary work in Portland?

I am relocating to Portland (Oregon) and want to do work temporarily during a time when I'll be there. I hear that the economy is doing does not necessarily mean that the Great there right now. So, anyone know how long it usually takes before you get temp assignments? One day? A week? Month? If you've temped before (even if not in Portland), how long did it take to get your first question? I'm not too picky about what kind of temp work I would do. I recently graduated with bachelor's degrees in business and finance, if you can help me at all. Bonus points to anyone would know what a normal wage for temporary work in Portland might be! Thank you!

I am working as Interim Library public, you get paid somewhere between $ 8.00 to $ 10.00 in general. I applied the first day of last month, got an interview call from 3 days got the job within a week and a half. I have never volunteered or worked before. And I work 6 hours per day 5 days per week. The salary is usually $ 9-15 for permanent workers since my colleague who is standing gets $ 14.00/hr. I apply for a store grocery store (Winco or Haggen) and TriMet where the seasonal worker is paid part tim approximately $ 11.00 per hour without expirience required. After 3-6 months you get an increase of $ 2. I graduated high school 2 years ago, I got okay grades, never had any experience in any type of work, since you are a college graduate, you'll probably more easily.
