In a speech at the University of Texas, Obama said the dramatic drop in college graduates. According to a recent College Board's report of the United States ranked 12th among 36 developing countries in the number of college graduates ages 25-34. Not only are we losing college graduates, we are in decline as economic power. We can not wait to reposition ourselves in investing so little national budget in college and K12.
The door is open for the U.S. to make education an economic priority. There all rapid changes in the world that require students who can think and create new products and services at a rapid pace. Too many countries are ahead of the United States in marketing and selling products worldwide. Producing college graduates in 2020 will be to make companies America's most competitive. The United States must open the doors to university at all levels. Community colleges should be part of the plan to increase graduation rates. A community college education can be beneficial for the student age traditional and nontraditional. Part of creating a sustainable society is looking at all dimensions of economic challenges we face. It seems that education takes second place to other priorities.
Arne Duncan Secretary Education indicates that 60 percent of the population who are 25-34 years require a college degree. Currently, only 40 percent of students age college graduate from their university. It is time to find a way to close the education gap persists at K12. There is a big question about who is entitled to receive a college education. Too many students are 3 or 4 years behind their grade level after completing their studies school. K12 root of the problem must be addressed simultaneously with the rise of colleges.
Too many people do not understand not the economic importance of increasing the number of college graduates. They act like we are still an agricultural society and manufacturing. The information age is moving the way we produce and sell products worldwide. Students need be proficient at higher levels to create new businesses that will compete and increase our economic position in the world. If we do not change our approach to student education will continue to slide and income in the United States will remain stagnant.
Obama has a plan to invest in education today. Congress and the Senate must act on its initiatives rather than focusing on policies that are politically expedient. education under-funding will result in more serious problems in the years to come. We need to increase the number of college graduates to fulfill the requirements as baby boomers begin to retire. If we do not prepare for next business generation will continue to move overseas. Companies will get used wherever they can find. It is important that we find ways to maximize learning opportunities for each student.
