How do I reset a USB port without having to reinstall the USB host controller?

I have a creative zen vision m and I Bought a USB cable that plugs directly into the device (rather than using the stupid dongle). I plugged the USB end into my DLink 7-port USB hub and got a dialog Surge or whatever. It allowed me to reset the port after disconnecting the device, but there are other disabled ports on the hub and I want to restore without uninstalling all USB host controllers and resintalling from disk Installation of Windows XP or something stupid retarded solution that some people have put forth other issues.

You not need the disc. Just uninstall and scan for hardware changes. It will reinstall automatically.
