Visa to a new country when I already have a visa for another country?

I have a student visa which continues until March 2011 for Australia, but I am going to apply for a work visa for Norway in a month. I intend be the first in Norway in February. Does having my first visa for Australia hinder my process of applying a new Norway visa. I'll be back home in America before X-mas and I will file my application there. Thank you!
